QUIZ: Who Said It? A Therapist or a Serial Killer?

Therapists and serial killers probably don’t have a lot in common. One group spends a great deal of time thinking about human behavior, childhood experiences, relationships, emotions, and what makes people tick. Unfortunately, so does the other.

So, how good are you at telling them apart?

serial killer

Below are quotes from therapists, psychologists, and some of history’s most notorious serial killers. And because I’m apparently committed to making you question everything you know, I picked serial killer quotes that sound suspiciously insightful and therapist quotes that may make you wonder whether someone should check the basement.

Think you can tell who said what? Let’s find out.

So, how did you do? If you nailed every question, congratulations: you’re either extremely knowledgeable about psychology or alarmingly familiar with serial killers. If you bombed it, don’t feel too bad. Apparently, “deep thoughts about the human condition” are not enough to distinguish a mental health professional from someone featured in a six-part Netflix documentary. Context matters, people. A lot.

QUIZ: Who Said It? A Therapist or a Disney Princess?

Disney princesses are known for their beauty, kindness, and questionable taste in men. But wisdom? Apparently yes.

At some point, I realized that therapists and Disney princesses say a lot of the same things. Believe in yourself. Follow your heart. Be brave. Feel your feelings. Don’t let other people define you. The main difference is that one of us has a master’s degree and the other has a talking crab.

So I decided to make a quiz.

Some of these quotes come from Disney princesses. Others come from therapists and famous psychologists. And a few are mine, because my Disney princess career never really took off.

Think you can tell the difference?

Good luck. There are no singing woodland creatures available to help you.

So, how did you do? If you correctly identified every therapist, psychologist, and Disney princess, congratulations. You have a very specific and completely useless superpower. If you bombed it, don’t feel bad. Apparently the line between solid therapeutic wisdom and something a Disney princess would say right before bursting into song is thinner than any of us realized.

QUIZ: Who Said It? A Therapist or Ted Lasso?

Therapists and Ted Lasso may have more in common than you’d think. Both have a knack for dropping surprisingly insightful one-liners about emotions, relationships, vulnerability, self-doubt, and what it means to be human.

But can you actually tell them apart?

Below are quotes from Ted Lasso mixed with quotes from therapists and psychologists. Some come from famous names in psychology. A few come from a considerably less famous therapist: me.

Some will be obvious. Others might make you wonder whether Ted missed his true calling.

Ready? Let’s see how well you know your therapy wisdom—and your Ted Lasso.

So, how did you do? If you couldn’t tell the therapists from Ted Lasso, I’m not sure what that says about therapists. Or Ted Lasso. Either way, hopefully you learned something, laughed at least once, and now have a few good quotes to pull out the next time someone needs unsolicited life advice. Share your score, and send the quiz to someone who thinks they can do better. Bonus points if they’re a therapist.

Quiz: Mental Illness: 20 Eye-Opening Questions

How Much Do You Actually Know ?

You probably know more about mental illness than people did a generation ago. Terms like anxiety, trauma, ADHD, boundaries, narcissism, and self-care have become part of everyday conversation. But with more awareness has come a lot more misinformation. Social media has blurred the line between clinical terms and pop psychology, and some of the “facts” repeated online aren’t facts at all.

So, how much do you really know about mental illness?

This quiz will put your knowledge to the test with questions about mental illness, treatment, psychology, myths, and some facts that may genuinely surprise you. Whether you’re a mental health professional, a psychology buff, or simply someone who spends a little too much time reading about the human mind, see how well you do.

And fair warning: a few of these are designed to make you think twice.
